California Dreamin' aka Livin'

We hate airplanes!!
I spent last week/end in california with my friend Lindsey and it was heavenly.  We stayed at a hotel right on the beach in Huntington Beach and they treated us right!  We decided we are more pool people than beach people since we are deathly white and the pool has shade, food, and no sand in your swimsuit.  We did go to the beach and the water was FREEZING but it was very beautiful and very busy.  Mostly we slept in and ate and then napped and then ate and then watched law and order and then woke up with nightmares.

It was my first time having room service and might I say that it is a wonderful thing... except for the tax, the service fee, the delivery fee, the door knocking fee etc.
We were right by the pier and loved Ruby's Diner at the end... delicious burgers and shakes and onion rings and fries... and good tummy aches when you are done.

We had lots of fun at the beach and were glad that we were at the pool when I believe they cleared the beach because of a shark sighting.... I don't know why people felt like it was safe to ever enter the water again but the next day it was PACKED.  Glad we were there mostly during the week.
If you need a relaxing getaway I can definitely tell you a great hotel and a yummy place to eat.

Spoiled

This weekend was an excellent one.  Tony and I both took Friday off for my bday.  We have done this the last couple years and I think it is a fabulous tradition.  We started off the day with presents- my very own personalized Messam lakers jersey and some ugg moccasins that I just have wanted forever. This guy listens.

Then we went to Ruth's Diner up the canyon and had some yummy breakfast. Then a short lived trip to the mall since I had a giftcard but didn't find anything. :( Only happens when you have money to spend. We saw Rock of Ages (poor tony) and then lunch at hagermanns with of course a sugar cookie and then dinner with Portia, Andy, and Gracie at Texas Roadhouse (Faune would be proud)

Then we headed over to the Messam house for some cupcakes and homemade ice cream-YUM!

"Happy Boob-Day" on the right with Tony laughing SO hard  from watching babies eat lemons on youtube

They gave me the vow movie which I wanted and would not receive from Tony and a cute scarf hanger with a cookbook holder.

Saturday we went to Ryker's soccer tournament which he killed!  So proud of the boogar.  He scored 12 goals in 4 short games. They made it to the championship and got second place.  and it was really hot outside. Shane and Afton had lots of hands up stands up contests...Shane has to do it since Danielle and I are gymnast handicapped.

That night we went to JP's house with a couple's bbq with all of Tony's friends from high school.  We had a lot of fun with good food, volleyball and my new friend Michael.  We had lots of good talks on the swings about not having kids til after marriage and how Michael said that will give you a better future.  I learned a lot from this hilarious fellow.  Too bad he lives in St. George.
Last but not least we had a great father's day bbq at our house with both of our families. We missed those who were missing. You know who you are.
Bumpa as the Biebs

Tatum was cracking us up for sure.  She was terrified of this wig, especially when Tony wore it.  We had so much fun and are so grateful that we have two amazing dads!  We are some lucky kids!!

family partay

Yesterday we had our family birthday party for amanda, jared and myself. Even though my family will be ditching me on my birthday I'm still excited since tony and I both have the day off for a "stay-cation" and it will be great.  We also got to see all of Tony's extended family yesterday at a little BBQ.  We love spending time with the crazy munchkins.... and I don't just mean Paula.

waiting for the cake

and tony got a fresh prince of bel-air makeover... and then we buzzed him.  I always get a kick of how different he looks with his mini fro and his shaved head.  It's like having two different boyfriends.

Memorial Time

We had a great LONG weekend which was much needed. Memorial day thank you for a paid holiday! Big shout out and thank you to all those who serve our country!

"We" did Portia and Gracie's hair on Saturday for their family pics.  Tony was a champ and tried to entertain Gracie when we lost her attention and he held the curling iron etc.  He is great.  And Gracie says the funniest stuff.  We could listen to her all day. .

We didn't get any pictures of Saturday night... ReAL had a great game followed by amazing food with Tony's friends from high school.  We were spoiled with some good food... as that is not part of my repertoire. I did make some good cookies though this weekend.

Sunday we had a crazy primary class as two of the kids were visiting from Brazil and did not speak a lick of English.  It was pretty funny trying to communicate with hand gestures and we had to crack up when one girl just kept trying to say stuff in a spanish accent. And Tony got to wear the very stylish "huggy bear" hat during singing time.  What can I say- the kids LOVE him.

Sunday my parents had us over for dinner and then we went to visit my Grandma Ruby and Grandpa Bob's graves.  We miss them so much!  Can't believe they would be 94 and 93!  Really sad that Tony didn't get to meet either of them because they were amazing people and the best grandparents ever.

Monday morning we got to have the traditional Memorial day scones with the Messam fam.  YUM!  I love these and wish we could eat them every day.  Then we spent some time watching Total Blackout which Amanda introduced us to.  We die laughing at this show.  It's on the SyFy channel for anyone who wants a good laugh.

Then we headed home for a nap and then BBQ with some of my family in the backyard...dad's prized possession.  Even though it is small it is a little piece of heaven.  So pretty back there.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend.

train of thought

So I have this really crazy train of thought.  I will just be thinking and get to a really random question but then want to ask someone about it.  For example... when we were in jr high at one of my friend's soccer games (tony was on his team and I had no idea at the time) four of us friends were on the sidelines.  I got to thinking to myself and then out loud said "is Michael Jordan really bald?"  They all looked at me and started laughing wondering why I was so crazy.

Last night Tony and I were watching the Clippers/ Spurs play and after just a few moments of not talking I asked "Do you think Rosie O'Donnell really ever had a crush on Tom Cruise?"  "What?"
I have no idea how I got there.  If anyone has an answer though: I'd like to hear it.  Was it all just a hoax Rosie? Did she lie to us all? IDK

Good Times

While our disney trip was fun we have very sore feet and backs and know which shoes not to wear.  Tony was an excellent sport and so was I might I add as I did not try and make us stay open to close every day... you know i'm getting old.  The first day we had to wake up super early to get to the airport and my dad was a champ and drove us.  Naturally we thought it was a good idea to walk over a mile each way from our hotel and then around the park.  The walk home was very sad and I fell asleep at 6 until 5:30 the next morning.  It's a talent.

One of the best things about disneyland is the treats!!

Then we pulled our one and only open to close day on Thursday.
Yep we wore these.  Since my head is huge I had to keep taking mine off but Tony was a champ and kept his on for a good amount of time

We had dinner at the blue bayou in the pirates of the caribbean ride

Tony thought it was quite silly as adults to get our picture taken with characters and get in a line so we just tried to do it the fast and not as embarrassing way.
Eeyore caught us and was a sport

We live for rollercoaster photo opps

Then being pooped we showed up around noon on friday and were checked out after fireworks at 10... and we were smart and decided to pay for the shuttle instead of walk again.
Yesterday we had an early mother's day celebration for my mom as she decided she'd rather be in costa rica next week.  After dinner we went into the playroom with the kids and I put some dress ups on the babes and they were cracking us up.  Granny played too and it was chaos in a tiny room.

and great news!!! our jumpin' jammerz came in the mail.  I discovered them when Ryan Gosling appeared on the Ellen Show and brought them for everyone.  Tony said any time he wants to buy something he just needs to find a way to get it on the ellen show and then I will be ok with buying it.  They are great.

It's that time

we are going to disneyland in the morning!!  We haven't been for exactly two years and the last time was rough... since I had pink eye and threw up in the world of disney store.  I was really quite a mess.  Luckily we were with my sister Danielle and her family and he had someone to hang out with while Danielle sat in the bathroom with me.  Tony and I had just made our relationship "official".... and I can't believe after seeing me like that that he still married me.  Not Tony's best first adventure to the California Disneyland.... he won't let me forget that I made a comment that the Tokyo Disneyland that he has been to wasn't the same as the "real disneyland".  Tokyo disneyland counts ok!  I'm not really one to talk as california is the only one I have ever been to.
left eye swollen ... so sad for me

so sad tony will probably not let me ask a stranger to take pics til we get a good one of these somewhere
But very excited that Tony and I can have a fun vacation together without worrying about school work or anything else!  Stay tuned for pics of places you have seen a million times.
