Faith

So I have been really struggling with an issue in my life and praying and praying that God will help me overcome this.  It's been a couple months and it just seems to be getting worse.  This week I was especially ornery and hard to deal with and just wanting to punch someone in the face because it wasn't going away and it should be something I can control.  (no this isn't some crazy sin haha) so today in sunday school brother Ian Lee gave a fabulous lesson which I so desparately needed to hear.  We talked about miracles in the new testament and Christ and his works.  We read in the scriptures specific stories and over and over again he talked about healing people according to their faith.  And it just hit me so hard... I've been expecting for difficult things in my life to disappear but not exercising my faith.  I thought I was doing my job but really only a half... job.  So I hope that if anyone is reading this that maybe it will strike a chord and things will make sense.  Crossies I can pull through and use some faith!  Can i get an AMEN

shout out to the tiny humans

Last night Afton had a sleepover and she is feeling sick and I kept being really worried that she would stop breathing in the middle of the night due to her really sad and awful asthma- I am a hypochondriac not only for myself- but for those I love. So even when she came into my side of the bed I tried not to move her.  As I was laying on my side facing her all the sudden I felt her arm come between mine and her little hand was just sitting in mine... pretty sure she was asleep and had no idea but I loved it.  Faune talks about cherishing the little moments and taking mental pictures of things that can't last like the way tiny hands feel in yours.
Last week Jake and Amanda went to Las Vegas and we got to have a sleepover with Tatum the teeniest taylor.  My mom left in the morning and brought her into my room to watch her while they went to the gym and i had her cradled in my arms laying on my side and her little hand went up and was resting on my chin... omg i love these kids!!!  Yes, mostly when they are sleeping but still... jik jkjk jkj seriously the things these kids say when they are awake are way worth having them be awake.
My favorite moment of Ryker was awhile ago when I was crying about some silly guy who told me he just wanted to be friends and Ryker came up to me and asked why I was sad and I said "this boy doesn't want to be my boyfriend" and Ryker said "well i'm your boyfriend"  and then I knew my next boyfriend who ended up being the one who said just friends and then proposed ;) had some big boyfriend shoes to fill.
Kudos to God for making kids.  I love these guys....
First came Ryker

then came afton
then came Tatum in the baby carriage

Introduction

Well, I'm realizing that most people reading this blog don't know me very well. So I'm going to take a little time to introduce myself. Remember Myspace? Yeah, me neither. I do remember that Myspace was full of those annoying surveys with questions that are obviously meant to help you secretly send a message to someone you "liked" ("are you thinking of someone special right now?"). I'm going to do something similar so you can get to know me.

P.S. Don't ever Google "Myspace Surveys". Holy cow, these things are stupider than I remember! Instead of copying one of those surveys and filling in the answers, I'm just going to give you 25 random facts about myself.

1. I'm shy/quiet/introverted, especially with girls. Luckily, I met Desi and I didn't have to worry about that.
2. I'm half Jamaican... I'm Jamerican
3. I'm a nerd/dork/geek. I think any one of those terms describes me. I love computers, video games, gadgets.
4. In spite of number 3, I try to convince myself I'm still cool.
5. Don't hate me for this but... I love the Lakers!!! The Jazz are a close #2 in my heart. But when I was growing up my dad was in the military and we moved a few times, so I didn't have a "hometown" team at the time I really began to get into basketball. That happened to be the time that a high school kid was skipping college and going straight to the NBA. As a rookie he played well, won the dunk contest and even had some memorable air-balls against the Jazz in the playoffs. I was hooked. His name was simply KOBE.
6. Speaking of my dad being in the military, I got to live in Japan for almost four years. I really liked it there.
7. I eat chocolate to keep myself tan in the winter. (I kid, I kid)
8. I love music and try to be really open minded about it and try to give different types a chance. Lately, Desi has reminded me of my love for old school soul music. I just want that stuff playing softly all through my house forever. It makes perfect background music.
9. I think far too often in my life, people have judged the book by its cover and not given me a chance. I think this happens to lots of people for different reasons, so I'm not feeling bad for myself. But it's unfortunate. Plus, is the cover of my book really that bad?
10. More reasons you shouldn't judge this book by it's cover: contrary to popular stereotypes, I'm a terrible dancer and not that great at basketball. I will say, I'm a pretty good athlete, so maybe those two things could have been different if I had worked at it.
11. My family is great. I don't know anyone that works harder for what he has than my dad. I don't know a more selfless person than my mom. And I've never had friends as talented and close to me as my brother and sister.
Have a look at these beautiful people (and me):

12. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I secretly (well not anymore) don't mind chick flicks.
13. I like to consider myself very accepting, forgiving and understanding of others. I really like to be treated that way, so I try to treat others like that too.
14. In preparation for September 7, I've been doing some reading and studying and think I have the marriage rules down:
a. Don't go to bed angry
b. She's always right
Did I miss any?
15. I can't believe I didn't think of this until number 15, but I LOVE to make people laugh. I try to tell jokes, do impressions and basically just act a fool. All for the sake of making someone laugh.
16. I was born here in Utah, and in all I've lived in this state for about 20 years. I've been snowboarding a total of one time, and I've never been skiing.
17. I hate diets. I don't like paying attention to what I'm eating. I like to eat when I'm bored, not when I'm hungry. Those just aren't conducive to successful dieting.
18. This is related to 17. I HATE vegetables. But when I'm a dad, I'll start eating them so that my kids will eat theirs too.
19. I don't get embarrassed very easily. I can count 3 times that my pants fell down in public (I'll tell the stories sometime if you want), but I didn't care. Gotta pick those things up from around your ankles and keep it movin'.
20. I like to play soccer.
21. I have always had a hard time buying movie tickets to something that wasn't a comedy. Everything else just seems like a waste of money to me for some reason. There are a few exceptions like Desi dates, Harry Potter and the occasional cool movie like Avatar or Inception.
22. Reggae music is pretty dang awesome. Bob Marley, of course, is one of the faves. But I'm really starting to like much older Reggae.
23. I'm writing this on my lunch break and I'm getting close to being late back to work.
24. I'm basically a Best Buy VIP, due to my technology addiction.
25. I LOVE DESIREE ANN TAYLOR!

Here Comes Trouble

Hey Everyone, Tony here. Yep, I'm officially contributing to the blog now. Hide yo kids, hide yo wife and hide yo husbands, cuz we men can't do anything right... even blog.

213 Days

So ..... yep we decided to get hitched..... this is how it all went down

once upon a time tony bought a shiny ring and desi knew about it.  She could not keep a secret to save her life so the people at Stampin' Up! awaited with her the arrival of the rock.  A couple days later Desi went home and her father, silly man that he is, told her that Tony had called to talk to him.  Desi replied "DAD! you're not supposed to tell me that!"  But secretly she wanted to know and was happy to know everything was in the works.
The very next night Desi was going to dinner with some ladies from work and knew it would be the perfect time to talk to her parents.  Paula even said that she had dinner plans at 5.  Desi was quite suspicious but was quite disappointed when Tony invited her over to his house at 5:30 before she went to dinner.
The next day Desi hoped that it would happen..... no luck.
So the next week after a little anxiety time ;) yikes... the patience set in.  Everyday at work she got questioned if she had received the bling.  Yes, this was her own fault for not being able to keep a secret.  The patience started to wear out after a week.
Saturday she went to help Linda help pat with her makeup for her bridals and chatted with them about how she suspected today might be the day since they had a triple date with Curtis and Amanda.  Linda told Deb to not get her hopes up though.
So Linda aka lindsey dropped deb aka desi off at antoine's aka tony's house to go to Tron for the triple date.  I realized that people were getting ready to see an actual movie and maybe I had gotten my aka Desi's hopes up too fast.  We met the other movie participants there and walked in to a dark theater.  As I walked in Desi said "why are the lights already turned off?"  since the previews had not started.
switching to first person since this is Daryl....
We sat in the handi-capable section towards the front since Curtis had just had surgery and was on crutches.  I put on my 3D glasses and had my legs up on the seat in front of me just chillin.  Then the advertisements stopped and i said "that was weird" and then some music started up My cherie amour started playing and I so beautifully, innocently, and loudly started lalalala-ing along when all the sudden I see my face pop up

I pull a classic Deb and just start laughing as tony starts saying "stand up, stand up" so I stand up and some people start clapping and he gets on a knee and asks me to marry him.  I don't remember saying yes - I just stuck my hand out and kept laughing.  Then he stood up and hugged me and i heard a "Yay Stinky" I turned around and said "Shane's here?"  and my whole family as well as tony's were hiding on the back row of the theater.  Bumpa had a sweet disguise of a black beany, 3D glasses and a trench coat.  Pat and Mel were fully committed and laid on the floor - Pat got yelled at by two ladies telling them to get up and move because they were blocking their seats-hahaha.  Then pat got to sit next to the lady during the movie.  They were excellent sports.

the evening resulted in the classic photo op spot of the taylor household as lisa likes to say

and we will be marriaged Sept 7 in the SLC Temple and we hope that you will be there!!
